Valley Public Interact Club
Valley Public Interact Club is a service club to the Rotary Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas for young people aged 12 to 18. Valley Public Interact Club is sponsored by its parent club, which provides support and guidance, but it is self-governing and self-supporting.
It is a mixed gendered small group of school-going young people who have exhibited deep interest in developing leadership skills, personal integrity, helpfulness and social responsibility. They all belong to Valley Public Higher Secondary School, Budhanilkantha-9, Kathmandu, Nepal.
Each year, the Interact Club at Valley Public completes at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill; another is dedicated to social service, such as charity work, campaigns for sanitation, awareness and health campaign.
Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of:
- Developing leadership skills and personal integrity
- Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
- Understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work
- Advancing international understanding and goodwill
As one of the most significant and fastest-growing programs of Rotary service, with more than 33,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas, Interact has become a worldwide phenomenon. Almost 340,000 young people are involved in Interact worldwide. Valley Public Interact Club contributes 36 members to that figure.
In 2016, the Club visited a Center that has been providing shelter to around 80 differently-abled people and donated sewing machines and five desktop computers amid a program.
